David W. Del Testa

I have taught as a professor since I received my Ph.D. in History in 2001, and at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, United States, since 2004. I teach courses that bridge modern Europe and Southeast Asia as well as methodology courses, including Historical Geographic Information Systems (H-GIS) and, more recently, on video games and history. I have greatly enjoyed working in higher education, in particular the mentorship I offer my students. I prioritize connecting students with research: in the classroom, through honors theses, and in independent projects. This has sometimes led me to develop local projects in which I could involve students more easily, resulting in an eclectic publication record. However, in every case, I have trusted and prepared my students to engage in high-quality domestic or international research and history writing, and I ensure that they receive credit for their work. Besides my work as a professor, I advocate for migraine-related and special education causes. My child developed brain-based blindness as a teenager and I seek to share my experience and provide support for others facing the same circumstances and the personal and bureaucratic challenges they present. This is what has led to my current immersive, accessible curriculum development project, the Digital Sojourns Project.
